Well, Hello….
My name is Nickole and I’m really very happy to see you here.
I come from a long line of sewists and women who fill their evenings with handcrafts. I don’t think there’s been a handcraft that my mother has met that she hasn’t been able to pick up quickly & easily. And watching my grandmother crochet was just magic. Observing these wonderfully influential women throughout my childhood and teenage years, a seed was sown in my heart; the joy of working with your hands and creating beautiful and useful things for loved ones. This joy that they continually demonstrated throughout my childhood eventually brought out my own love of working with my hands and creating beautiful things for myself and those that I love. I often think that my love language is creating for those around me.
But this also isn’t to discount the love of crafting things to the best of my abilities that was passed down from my father — growing up around someone who has a deep-rooted belief in doing things the right way, giving tasks your all, and to always do your best gave me another foundation to build upon. With these important lessons passed down from my family, I strive to always put my best foot forward and deliver quality results in whatever task I set my mind to.
Given that background, is it any wonder that I find creativity as an outlet and a way to ground myself?
After quilting for twelve years, when I stepped up to a longarm for the first time in 2016, I was filled with trepidation and skepticism that I would enjoy it, not to mention love it.
But love it I did! It was such a novel and wonderful outlet to take quilts that final step towards being useful. And, shhh! don’t tell all my pretty fabrics sitting on the shelves in my sewing room, but I believe that the thread texture from the longarm owns my heart now — I love how the right thread and the right quilting pattern can give an already ‘wowza’ quilt (yes, that’s a technical quilting term) the magic that it needs to go on and fulfill its purpose.
Since I starting longarming, I haven’t stopped and don’t intend to anytime soon, especially after bringing home my own longarm in the fall of 2020. I enjoy bringing a client's vision for their quilt to life. I treasure the part I play in a quilt's journey from a flimsy to a texture-filled treasure that can be cuddled with, gifted at a special occasion, made into a secret fortress, or dragged around to picnics. I would love to collaborate with you as we finish breathing life and purpose into your quilt.
If you're interested in working with me, or to talk options, please feel free to reach out using the Contact link or by filling out the Let’s Collaborate form. I look forward to working with you and being part of your quilt's journey.
